Parental Controls: Time Limits

October 15, 2011

There are so many dangerous and inappropriate things that can be seen on the internet, as well as files and folders that your child should not access on the computer itself, that it is no surprise that parental controls have been invented. You may shy away from the idea of ‘controlling’ your child, but it has been noted that controls on the computer are easily understood by children, and are accepted without argument for the most part. Take time control limits. When your child’s time is up on the computer, the computer automatically shuts down or logs them off. There is no way to argue with this, and children usually accept this measure as the way things have to be. In a way you are benefiting your child by giving them the time they need to other things, that are equally, if not more important. Too much time in front of the computer is bad for everyone, children not excluded, so it is important to make sure they do other things as well.

Grants for Single Parent Who Need Assistance

September 30, 2011

Did you know that a single mom or single parent living in the U.S. has access to many single parent grants through the federal government, state government, as well as accessing the private sector, colleges and businesses? It is not difficult to apply for a grant, but you have to meet certain criteria to succeed in obtaining one. Do not confuse a grant with a loan. A loan is money you are borrowing from someone and have to pay back. A grant does not have to be repaid. Loans have to be paid back over a period of time. If you are in desperate need of assistance and cannot afford to take a loan, apply for a grant. You don’t want the added burden and stress of a loan when you have limited funds already. There are many grants you can apply for, such as the Pell grant, the National Smart grant, and many others. Go online and do a search.

The Downsides of a Wooden Bed Guard

July 31, 2011

If you are one of the many parents who can’t figure out whether or not they want a wooden bed guard you need to know both the pro’s and con’s. The perks can be found on basically any website, but the negative side of a wooden bed guard is harder to find. Here are things that need to be known before clicking “buy” on that website.

The first major downside to a wooden bed guard is that it’s much more difficult to install than a foam bed guard. They also aren’t as portable, and don’t fit all beds. The other major issue that people have with wooden bed guards is that they aren’t very soft. Foam bed guards are much softer, and won’t bruise your child if they decide to horse around in their bed.

You will also find that wooden bed guards can appear to the child to be the same as their cot sides and therefore they still feel like a baby rather than a big boy or girl in their new big bed.

Tips on Using Playground Slides

March 3, 2011

Among playground equipment, playground slidesare a favorite. There are slides that go straight down and there are some that go round and round. No matter what type of slide you use, it is important to know how to use it properly. Teach children on the proper use of playground slides. They should always use the ladder when going up the slide, not the slide itself. Advise the kids to hold on well to the bars when climbing the ladder. When they are ready to slide, they should be seated properly with both legs stretched out. Advise them not to slide lying down or sideways or whatever creative ways they think would be fun. Make sure that the slide is not wet or too slippery. This will make the slide faster than it should be and the child may drop too hard on the ground. Playgrounds slides are fun, as long as you use it the right way.

When Marriages Break, Families Can Fall Apart

February 24, 2011

It is never easy when parents suddenly decide to separate for good. The situation becomes extremely difficult especially for the children. Supposed to be, parents must always take into consideration the feelings of the kids. Their welfare must be of utmost importance to both parents. Relinquishing parental rights sometimes becomes an option of one parent, especially when he or she has plans of going somewhere far, wherein bringing children makes his or her situation considerably difficult. Most of the time, it is the parent without a stable job or dependable source of income, who surrenders his/her rights in favor of the more financially capable party. This circumstance is no longer very new to us. We see how marriages fall apart easily these days, and yet, more often than not, we fail to realize its effect on the children. Although some learn to accept their situation quite easily, there are many who can't seem to understand why such a terrible thing should happen to their family. It is in these cases where children need their parents the most.

Tutoring More Than One Children

November 1, 2010

Tutors can be costly. But parents who want to invest on their child’s education are willing to spend a lot. Some families who have more children also try to enroll them in tutoring programs. But is it advisable to enroll more than one child to a tutoring service?

If the parents can afford it then why not? As long as there is a need for their children to get better grades in school. I would still recommend giving a tutor for each children. The parents should just always take into consideration the qualifications and effectiveness of the tutor they will be hiring. To get their money’s worth, parents should still monitor their children’s grades by asking their respective school teachers.

Qualified tutors can be hired from school and teacher unions. But I recommend a Tuition Agency to be the best source for qualified tutors. Tutors hired from them usually have great teaching skills.

Crash Course Or Lecture For New Parents To Avoid Accidents

August 25, 2010

I have read an article about an accident involving a 2 year old baby. The parents were question by the police by a possible parental neglect that happened. Since it took place inside the family’s backyard it is their sole responsibility. I really feel the parents since I can see that they’re very sorry about what happened. No one would want such morbid thing to even exist in reality. Although there are parents rights and responsibilities that should not be ignored. Everything should be according to the law to avoid lame finger-pointing attitude just for someone to take the blame. I pity the parents but my sympathy goes to the child who suffered enormously because of something that should have been avoided in the first place. The lost of their child would never be easy for them to accept most especially since they are being scrutinized by everyone they know even their own family. Crash courses should be mandatory to every new parents for them to be well-informed about accidents and stuff that may result to tragic lost.
